The main aim of conducting workshops is to give clear processes for workers to adopt the attitudes, actions and empathy necessary for a productive client-worker relationship.
Human services will often be the main source of contact for people as they seek resolution for the fallout from childhood sexual abuse. Participate in this one-day workshop to learn effective methods which will enhance long-term outcomes for your client.
Survivors might not always disclose their abuse while accessing services. Without disclosure, services will continue to compartmentalise provisions which address the symptom rather than the cause.
People who were subjected to childhood sexual abuse can experience a wide range of issues as a result. They are more at risk of problems in their adult lives, including:
- Mental and physical health
- Domestic violence
- Education and employment opportunities
- Parenting
- Re-victimisation
- How they relate to themselves and others
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the survivor’s experience and the results of their trauma, so the worker will be more effective in establishing the right work practices.
- Establish an empathetic environment for the client to enhance disclosure and build productive relationships.
- Incorporate strategies to assist survivors to build resilience.
