Penny’s most recent work has involved training people for the workforce and developing strategies to assist the client to engage in their community.
Penny's work as a facilitator in a sexual assault group led her to return to QUT to complete a Masters in Human Services. She originally undertook a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences (HS) majoring in Young People, as it reflects her values that young people are our social capital of the future. Her Postgraduate studies in Alternative Education and Early School Leaving resulted from identifying gaps in the alternative education systems.
She decided to start Leverage, a business focussing on human services training and consultancy, to participate in positive and effective ways for change in the human services environment. Leverage draws on the psychosocial model of therapy, whereby the client’s perceptions guide the faciliator to select the best outcomes for them.
On a personal level, Penny would like to see the business flourish as a valuable resource for professional development, to continue exploring the world and its communities, and to keep invested in education.
